California Capital building visit

Yesterday we decided we had better tour the capital before we left Sac for Newport Beach. It is a beautiful building and I wish I could have incorporated it into the children's lessons-but I haven't and have now run out of time. At least we have toured it.

The emotion a visit to the capital building evokes in these two-
it's moving

The Digs

I realized recently that I never have posted any pictures of our home-sweet-home, so I am changing that today. We love our toy-hauler and highly recommend it to any families that are thinking of going on the road. It is especially perfect because we have a classroom/bedroom for the kids and it can function as both with the two beds that raise up to the ceiling when not in use.

We are considering buying a desk that would replace
the wood desk and encase the kid's clothing drawers

I put up the black curtains because that side gets all
the evening sun and we would bake without them

Here you can see the loft space which we now use for storage

the toilet "room" is across from the shower and I decided to
spare you the pictures of it.

Phish and an anniversary

Tourists

Our view from our SF hotel

A close up...
We headed to San Francisco this past Saturday so Nathan could go to a Phish concert with Jeremy and friends. Of course we had to do it since Jeremy had an extra ticket with Nathan's name on it-convinient is all I have to say (with a smile of course.) We arrived early and went to Pier 39 and Fisherman's wharf area to tool around- we make good tools. We had Stache along and did not want to board him-despite our hotel being a no-dogs-allowed hotel. Scout was not happy about this little bit of rule breaking-well until after we checked out, then he considered it a successful spy mission. I apologize to anyone who thinks this is bad form-I just couldn't board my dog. Nathan headed off to the concert and the kids and I stayed in for the night-mainly because I did not want to sneak the dog through the only entrance at the front desk again. It was fun though, we watched movies, and people-we were across the street from an adult film theatre-h-hmm, but all in all the city vibe was exciting.
How we spent our SF night
We took in more SF sites in the morning which was Sunday the 19th-our 8 year anniversary, we ate at the Ferry Building, then went to the sunday market and bought a small painting, which we also did 8 years ago. We attempted the Exploritorium but gave up after trying and failing to park our beast the dually on the streets or parking lot.

So we headed to Sausalito-so beautiful- I never did get to visit when my sister Michelle lived there. We ate again-picnic style sitting by the water, then we walked about a bit and were off to Healdsburg.

apparently Nathan enjoyed my affection for the cow

The bottom of my pants are wet because Scout wandered off while we were near the water so
I went in to find him.
Nathan thought it was hilarious- I know all the moms out there get it though.

Lunch in Healdsburg

Ledson- the "boutique" winery

We checked in to our dog-friendly hotel, then swam. We didn't do much beyond go to dinner after the swim. On Monday we woke ate breakfast and then it was off to taste wine! We went to Seghesio it is one of my favorite wines, so it was a delight. We drank then played bocce ball in there beautiful yard, we had as much fun as the kids. We then headed to a biodynamic farm/vineyard called Queue which was over-the-top beautiful! We walked the grounds-met the cow, the pigs and the chickens. I would love to have a property like this place someday! We then went to town and to a wonderful grocery and bought supplies for lunch in the park. We had our usual- salami, cheese, bread and fruit in the Healdsburg square park.

After lunch we headed to Sonoma- we wanted to get to Cakebread, but discovered it is appointment only tasting now. We changed course and went to Ledson-a "boutique" winery that doesn't appear so judging by the castle. We collected grape leaves from all the properties in hopes that someday we will frame them along with the ones we collected from our wine tours around our wedding day. That night we camped in Napa a wilderness park-another beautiful place. We returned home on Tuesday and were drooling tired, still am matter of fact....
Another Piper street! This is in Sonoma
